The Art Gallery of New South Wales today announced Singapore Airlines as the official Airline partner of the Sydney International Art Series exhibition Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age: Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum in Sydney exclusively from 11 November 2017 – 18 February 2018.

The Airline, a longstanding supporter of the arts in Australia and this year marking the 50th anniversary of its flights from Singapore to Sydney and Perth, will assist the Gallery to stage its highly anticipated international exhibition of outstanding works of art by Rembrandt, Vermeer and the great Dutch masters.

Art Gallery of NSW director Dr Michael Brand said airline partnerships in the 21st century were critical to the success of art museums’ staging of major international art exhibitions.

“We are delighted and extremely grateful that Singapore Airlines, well known as a strong advocate of the arts in Australia, is supporting the Gallery to exhibit Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age: Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum.

“This exhibition, drawn from the renowned collection of the famed Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, will attract audiences to Sydney from right around the country and overseas, and Singapore Airlines will play a vital logistical role in staging this exhibition in Australia and bringing art-loving audiences to Sydney,” Dr Brand said.

Over the summer visitors to Rembrandt and the Dutch Golden Age: Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum will have the opportunity to win return flights to Amsterdam with Singapore Airlines to visit the Rijksmuseum and enjoy all the lively European city has to offer art and culture aficionados.

Singapore Airlines Regional Vice President, Mr Tan Tiow Kor, said Singapore Airlines is pleased to partner with the Art Gallery of NSW and support this exciting exhibition.

“Since our first flight to Sydney 50 years ago we have consistently looked to support the arts and culture scene in Sydney, New South Wales and throughout Australia,” Mr Tan said.

“As we celebrate our Golden anniversary here in Sydney it is apt that we have the opportunity to support an exhibition that highlights a ‘golden age’ of art and some of history’s greatest artists.

“We look forward to working closely with the Art Gallery of NSW to ensure all visitors have a memorable experience and to ensure the success of this great exhibition, which will further enhance Sydney as an artistic and culturally rich destination in our global network,” Mr Tan added.
