COVID-19 temporary closure

23 March 2020

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

We are committed to the safety of our large community of staff, volunteers, members, visitors, artists and supporters during the challenges we are all facing with COVID-19.

In line with decisions made by the National Cabinet as communicated by the NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, the Art Gallery of New South Wales has closed to the public until further notice to help protect the health of all visitors and staff and minimise the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the State.

We need to play our part to keep everyone as healthy as we can in the coming weeks and months. Any update to these restrictions will be communicated by the NSW Government in due course.

During our closure, the Gallery will remain accessible to you through our website and through our social media channels. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Youtube.

We’ll be sharing art stories of optimism and energy, so please stay connected with us. Art keeps everyone’s spirits up by providing hope, delight and respite and we need it more than ever.

While our public spaces are closed, our staff will continue their important work behind the scenes. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Gallery as soon as circumstances allow.

I hope you all find a place of peace in these extraordinary and challenging times.

Take care,

Michael Brand
Director, Art Gallery of New South Wales
