Culture Dose for Kids
Engagement with the arts can help young people connect to their feelings, thoughts, and imagination. It can build self-confidence and resilience, as well as foster social connections and improve mental health and wellbeing.
Culture Dose for Kids invites children who are experiencing mild anxiety, and their parents/caregivers, to take part in an eight-week art program at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
This free program provides a safe, structured space for them to engage with and respond creatively to curated artworks in a small group setting. A program for the children’s parents and caregivers runs at the same time.
The program is part of a research study conducted by the Black Dog Institute in conjunction with the Art Gallery, which aims to understand the impact of an arts engagement program on improving wellbeing.
The first Culture Dose for Kids sessions were held in 2022 for children aged 10 to 12. More were held in 2023.
