Selected contractor announced for Gallery expansion

We are very pleased to share with you the great news that the NSW Government has announced Richard Crookes Constructions as the selected contractor to build our Sydney Modern Project, with work expected to commence soon.

The NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian made the announcement with Arts Minister Don Harwin at the Gallery on 1 September 2019.

You can read the Gallery’s media release welcoming the announcement.

For a public project of this significance, the priority has always been to create an extraordinary building for Sydney and NSW that will transform our institution and the way visitors engage with art.

The Gallery has been in discussions with leading Australian and international artists and cultural organisations to plan site-specific commissions, future exhibitions and collaborations, and we look forward to sharing in due course the first of many art announcements.

This is an exciting time for the Gallery as we move closer to realising our vision for the future. We deeply appreciate the ongoing support of our large and diverse community and our donors who have so generously partnered with the NSW Government in the largest public-private partnership of its kind to date in the Australian arts.

We look forward to keeping you informed on the next stages of the project.

Best wishes,
