Sydney Modern Project Update: December 2019

Works update

Temporary fencing to enclose the site is complete and permanent hoardings and a site compound are being progressively installed throughout December 2019.

Once a permanent site compound within the site is established, the temporary site compound at the northern end of Lincoln Crescent will be removed.

Construction has now commenced on-site with work to prepare the site and demolish existing structures planned throughout December 2019 and January 2020. Earthworks will also commence in January 2020 as well as works to the Lincoln Crescent substation at the northern end of the site.

During construction, pedestrian access routes around and through the site will temporarily change. Impacted areas will be signposted to advise of alternate routes.

To ensure public safety during New Year’s Eve and other major events, pedestrian access pathways through the project site will be temporarily closed. Please use the alternate route available (as indicated on the map) and refer to signage throughout the precinct.

The Gallery remains open every day from 10am until 5pm (except Christmas Day).

Christmas shutdown

The project site will close from Saturday 21 December 2019 and re-open on Thursday 2 January 2020. Should there be any issues on-site during this time, please contact the project information line on 1800 717 705.

Construction hours

Hours of construction are as follows:

  • Monday to Friday – 7am to 6pm

  • Saturday – 8am to 3:30pm

  • Sunday and public holidays – no work.

On some occasions, out of hours works may need to take place. Separate notifications will be provided to impacted stakeholders in advance of these works.
