Philanthropy

The $344 million Sydney Modern Project is the largest government and philanthropic arts partnership of its kind to be achieved to date in Australia. Together with the NSW Government’s $244 million contribution, the Art Gallery has attracted unprecedented philanthropic support, raising more than $100 million to support the construction of the new SANAA-designed building.

We are grateful to our generous donors for their support of the campaign to help realise this ground-breaking project.

As we look to our next exciting milestones, the Art Gallery is moving into new phases of the Sydney Modern Project campaign. We are continuing to seek philanthropic support for our transformation, including an art acquisitions campaign and expanding our learning and engagement programs. We invite you to join our community of donors and help transform the arts and cultural landscape in Sydney and beyond. The campaign, led by a dedicated committee under the chairmanship of former Art Gallery Trustee Dr Mark Nelson, welcomes gifts of any size.

Together we will celebrate the Art Gallery’s proud history and build for the future.

These donations are a wonderful investment in an institution that so successfully connects artists and audiences. It’s exciting that our donors are backing the future success of the Gallery with all the cultural and social benefits it will bring to the people of NSW.
